When education meets action, change becomes real. In partnership with the Faculty of Maritime Studies, University of Rijeka, Back to Blu joined the Wings for Life World Run, a global charity race supporting spinal cord research.
Running with purpose
Ahead of the race in Zadar, the Back to Blu team visited the Faculty to present the initiative and share its message: caring for the sea begins with everyday awareness. As part of the collaboration, Back to Blu donated cotton T-shirts to all student runners participating as the PFRI team, a small gift with a bigger message about responsibility and community.
Connecting knowledge and responsibility
During our presentation, students learned how plastic pollution affects marine ecosystems and why personal choices matter, especially for those preparing for careers at sea. The discussion wasn’t just about the problem, but about possibilities: how the next generation of maritime professionals can protect the oceans they work on.
“We were honoured to see how openly the students engaged,” said a Back to Blu representative. “It proved that change starts with curiosity and small steps can lead to a cleaner future.”
A shared goal
We’re proud that the Faculty recognised the values behind the Back to Blu movement and that we could take part together in this humanitarian event. Whether it’s through a run, a cleanup, or a simple act of giving, our purpose remains the same – to protect what connects us all.
