When the world slowed down in 2020, solidarity became more important than ever. As face masks disappeared from shelves and hospitals faced shortages, Back to Blu decided to take action, not through words, but through making.
From sustainability to solidarity
Though best known for promoting sustainable fashion and environmental care, Back to Blu has always seen health as part of that same mission. A healthy planet and healthy people go hand in hand. So, when the pandemic struck, our small production team began creating reusable cotton face masks, made safely in our local facility and designed for comfort and durability.
Helping those who help others
The first delivery went to Kantrida Children’s Hospital in Rijeka, a place that has long cared for our youngest community members. The donation provided staff and families with much-needed protection at a time when supplies were scarce and uncertainty was high.
“It wasn’t about how many masks we could make,” said one team member. “It was about doing something useful, something that reminded people they weren’t alone.”
Care that continues
This project reminded us that the Back to Blu mission is bigger than fashion or sustainability, it’s about community, kindness, and shared responsibility. When we care for one another, we protect the future we’re all working toward.
Because giving back – whether through a T-shirt, a mask, or a clean beach – is what common sense looks like in action.
