On Earth Day, we carried out a reforestation project in Rijeka, on the Grbaste area in Svilno, in collaboration with Liburnia Group, Project O2 and the City of Rijeka.
The project was developed with a clear goal: to restore local land and support the growth of a new forest over time. What makes this kind of initiative meaningful is not only the planting itself, but the fact that it becomes part of a longer process that continues well beyond a single day.
What was done on the ground
The reforestation was carried out on one hectare of land using a combination of methods designed to support natural regeneration.
Around 3 000 seed bombs were distributed by drone across the area, while an additional 200 black pine seedlings (Pinus nigra) were planted by hand. This approach allows the land to recover gradually while also creating a stable base for future growth.
The expected outcome is the development of a forest of approximately 1000 trees on this site.
Why projects like this matter
Reforestation helps restore degraded land, supports biodiversity and contributes to reducing environmental impact over time. At the same time, it opens a wider question about the role brands play today.
In our article on responsible clothing, we talk about how sustainability does not end with materials or production. It also includes the decisions brands make beyond the product itself.
This project is one of those decisions.
From sustainable clothing to environmental action
Back to Blu develops sustainable clothing with a focus on durability, material quality and a slower approach to production.
At the same time, we are building a model in which part of the value created through our collections is directed into environmental projects such as reforestation.
This creates a direct connection between what is produced and what is given back.

What happens next
The site in Rijeka will be monitored by Project O2 after six months and again after one year. This allows the development of the area to be followed over time and ensures that the project delivers real, measurable results.
A long-term approach
The forest in Rijeka will take time to develop, but it already represents a concrete step towards restoring the land and creating conditions for future growth.
For Back to Blu, projects like this are not separate from what we do. They are part of how we define sustainable fashion in practice.
Where this connects back to you
Every Back to Blu piece is part of a larger story.
By choosing our sustainable clothing, you are supporting a model that goes beyond production and into real environmental action. Projects like this are made possible through that connection.
